Results of the exciting season start of 2010 MotoGp at Losail Circuit, Qatar.

World Champion Valentino Rossi started the 2010 MotoGp by winning the first race of the season at Losail Circuit in Qatar.

A brilliant start to the race, for both Rossi and Dani Pedrosa, who started 7th on the grid and soon found himself leading everybody else. Rossi’s position was secured as soon as Casey Stoner crashed out (unhurt) of the race just after five laps.

The Australian has been the winner for MotoGp on Losail Circuit consecutively for the last three years and gave the best time during Free Practise I, II and Qualifying, but this time luck wasn’t entirely on his side. Stoner, who was leading the 2010 MotoGp had a crash and was out of the race after just 5 laps leaving the grounds clear for Rossi.

For the next few laps Rossi led while Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso batteled for the 2nd position till Pedrosa went lower on the grid and Nikki Hayden and Rossi’s teammate Jorge Lorenzo started making a smooth climb up.

The only person, who threatened Rossi’s pole position, though only for a fraction, was Honda Rider Andrea Dovizioso. It was almost that was the warning Rossi needed and he put in the extra pace needed to widen the gap between him and his chaser.

The Losail Circuit saw a fierce battle for the 2nd position between Dovizioso, Hayden and Lorenzo.

Things started really heating up with just 2 laps to finish when Lorenzo, who was running fourth squeezed up to 3rd past Hayden and then moved further up to mark his 2nd position while leaving Dovizioso behind as well.

The next corner saw Hayden come to 3rd position leaving Dovizioso behind, but just meters from the finish line their positions swapped, giving Davizioso a podium position and leaving Hayden with no choice but to accept 4th.

Rossi crossed the finish line with one full second’s advantage while Ben Spies bagged the 5th position for Tech 3 Yamaha

Dani Pedrosa, the man who led the race for a few laps right at the start, ultimately finished 7th on the grid.

The wait for the next race another two weeks, and its end on the 25th of April at the Motegi Circuit in Japan.

Till then watch out for more action packed images and videos of the 2010 MotoGp here on Autogeared.
