2011 Nissan Juke priced at $18,960*
by Aman ChaudhryNo CommentsNissan North America has recently released pricing for the 2011 Nissan Juke sport cross. The all-new Juke is the company’s CUV that goes on sales in October starting at MSRP of $18,960 USD.
“We believe JUKE’s unique combination of motorsports-inspired exterior and interior design and unexpected levels of technology – along with a starting MSRP under $19,000 is going to propel JUKE into the heart of the fast-growing compact hatchback/crossover market,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc.
The Nisaan Juke will be offered in eight different variants powered by a standard 1.6-liter Direct Injection Petrol Turbo engine, which results in producing 188 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes in two transmissions – an advanced Xtronic CVT with S-mode or a 6-speed manual transmission (SV FWD and SL FWD models only), which will start at $20,260. Nissan has claimed fuel efficiency figures of 27 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.
This baby CUV is a nice blend of sporty and sleek looks. The car looks powerful, bold and is ready to attract the young drivers. Interiors look almost comic like with a center console inspired by a motorcycle fuel tank in high-gloss plaint.
With low pricing, many on-board equipments, youth-oriented styling, Nissan is making sure that we see enough of Jukes on the road post October.

100,000TH New VW Scirocco Leaves The Production Line
by Aman ChaudhryNo CommentsSince its market launch in 1974, the Scirocco compact sports coupé has been the most successful Volkswagen in its segment: 795,650 vehicles were sold up to 1992. Currently, the third generation is being manufactured.
On Friday, at the VW Autoeuropa – Automóveis Ltda. plant in Portugal, just two years after its market launch, the 100,000th third generation Scirocco rolled off the production line. Andreas Hinrichs, Autoeuropa Plant Manager, said: ‘The Scirocco is one of the most important cars that we produce. For myself personally, it was a moving moment.’
The celebrated model is a Scirocco R 2.0-litre TSI, in Rising Blue Metallic, with a Titan Black interior, radio navigation system, Park Pilot and a tilting sunroof. In southern Portugal, with 3,000 employees, Volkswagen produces the Eos, the new Sharan and, since 2008, the third generation of the Scirocco.
With its attractive design and sporty appearance, the Scirocco leaves a lasting impression. In 2008, it claimed the AutoBILD Design Award and was named Car of the Year by Top Gear magazine.
The Scirocco is looking just as good in motorsport as it does on the open road: already in 2008, the racing version of the new Scirocco occupied top ranks at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. In its first time at the competition in 2009, the Scirocco GT24-CNG (natural gas) won in the alternative-drive class.

New Volkswagen Touran MPV
by Aman Chaudhry1 CommentThe new Volkswagen Touran compact MPV opens for ordering today complete with fresh styling both inside and out, a range of efficient new engines on the road. First deliveries are set to take place on 22 September.
Unveiled at the Leipzig Motor Show in April, the new Touran draws on the design language seen on the Polo and new Sharan with a mix of clean lines and a lower, wider appearance than the model it replaces. The changes extend to the front wings, bonnet and front bumper which are joined by new wing mirrors, rear lights and a restyled tailgate and bumper.
Inside the new Touran the entertainment and climate functions have all been revised and a new three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of restyled dials. Fresh trim finishes are also available.
As with the outgoing car, the new Touran’s focus is on versatility, with the ability to carry seven adults with the third row of seats folding flat into the floor. Commendation for Vauxhall’s Support of Motability Scheme
by Aman ChaudhryNo CommentsVauxhall’s strong support of the national Motability scheme has been recognised at the fifth annual Supplier Awards of Motability Operations, the organisation which operates the Motability car, powered wheelchair and scooter scheme.
The company’s continued commitment to Motability was highly commended while Vauxhall retailers were winners in three of the 13 award categories including the customer-nominated ‘Motability Sales Specialist’ award which went to Gavin Gray of Vauxhall retailer Bristol Street Motors.
In making the commendation, the judges said Vauxhall had worked tirelessly to demonstrate its continued commitment to Motability and that exceptional levels of customer care set the benchmark for customers. “Vauxhall’s new and exciting models available to Motability customers at the same time as the broader car market and a dedicated Vauxhall Motability team are highlights of Vauxhall’s long-term commitment,” the commendation stated.
And it added that consistent competitive pricing, including increasing the number of models available at nil advance payment, resulted in great value for money ensuring Vauxhall models remain some of the top choices for Motability customers.
Steve Catlin, Vauxhall Fleet Marketing and Motability Manager, received the company’s award: “Vauxhall is a strong supporter of Motability. We offer a wide range of models to scheme customers and extensive support, including nominated Motability specialists at our retailers. I’m delighted that this long-standing commitment has been recognised at the 2010 Motability Operations Supplier Awards.”
Over half a million disabled people in the UK enjoy affordable and worry-free motoring through the Motability scheme. Speaking at the awards, Mike Betts, chief executive of Motability Operations said: “In 2009 Motability received the highest ever levels in customer satisfaction. The last year would not have been possible without the support and partnership of our dedicated suppliers and business partners.”
Vauxhall retailers are particularly active in supporting the scheme and three of them were category winners in the 2010 awards. In the ‘Dealer Fleet Size up to 250’ category Monorep Vauxhall of Southall came out top. All New Audi A7 Sportback
by Aman Chaudhry2 CommentsThe sought-after Audi Sportback formula can now be enjoyed on an even grander scale in the all new A7 Sportback, which in a similar vein to its A5 namesake discreetly integrates saloon car versatility and hatchback practicality into an elegant premium coupe silhouette. By reinterpreting the concept for the larger executive class, the A7 Sportback will project the Vorsprung durch Technik brand into yet another new segment.
As befits its positioning as an unashamedly luxurious yet also distinctly driver-oriented five-door performance coupe, the new A7 Sportback will initially offer a choice of four FSI petrol and TDI engines delivering exhilarating pulling power with limousine-like polish. The naturally aspirated 204PS 2.8-litre FSI and supercharged 300PS 3.0-litre TFSI petrol units will be complemented by two versions of the acclaimed 3.0-litre TDI in 204PS and 245PS forms.
For the first time in Audi models at this level, these will be combined with the rapid-shifting seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch sports transmission wherever quattro four-wheel-drive is installed. The quattro all-wheel-drive system appears in latest generation form with 40%:60% rear bias and featuring the crown gear differential first seen in the RS 5, which can vary torque distribution between the front and rear axles even more widely for even greater agility.
The Audi drive select adaptive dynamics system will be fitted as standard to all models, enabling the driver to fine tune steering weighting, throttle response and transmission shift points at the touch of a button. The keenest performance enthusiasts will also be able to specify the optional quattro sport differential enabling torque transfer between the rear wheels, which has been much praised in the S4 and RS 5 for the even greater handling adjustability it brings.
Start-stop for all engines
Drivers with a greater bias towards economy and long distance comfort will also be well catered for by the A7 Sportback. The latest direct injection technology puts its engine range at the forefront of efficiency, and all four units also combine innovative Audi thermal management, energy recuperation during coasting and braking and the now familiar engine start-stop function.
With the added benefit of new engine load-reducing electromechanical power steering, and the fuel-sparing, torque converter-free Audi multitronic continuously variable automatic transmission fitted as standard to front-wheel-drive versions, fuel economy of up to 53.3mpg, and CO2 of as little as 139g/km is possible if the 3.0 TDI (204PS) is specified.
Economy can also be further optimized when the standard satellite navigation system is upgraded to MMI navigation plus, the detailed route data from which can be used to factor corners into the automatic transmission’s shift strategy and avoid unnecessary, fuel-sapping gear changes. The optional adaptive cruise control and adaptive light swivelling cornering light systems are also influenced by feedback from the navigation unit.
To reduce power usage still further, and give the A7 Sportback an even more imposing look, customers can also specify extremely energy efficient all-LED headlights at extra cost. These units with their incredibly distinctive, almost daylight-like beams, incorporate special cornering, all-weather and motorway light configurations.
All new platform
A completely new and exclusive-to-Audi platform employing advanced five link front and trapezoidal link rear suspension system will bring impeccable comfort and control to the new A7 Sportback, and can be specified with a firmer, 10mm lower sport setting or an even more intensively handling-oriented S line configuration. For drivers craving maximum continent-crossing refinement an extensively revised version of the Audi adaptive air suspension system with three ride settings will be offered as an option.
In terms of size the new A7 Sportback stands almost toe to toe with the current A6 Saloon with a length of 4.97m and width of 1,91m, although its elegantly tapered coupe roofline ensures that it sits even more purposefully on the road. The executive class dimensions are reflected in executive class interior space for up to four adults, and when luggage takes precedence up to 1,390 litres of capacity can be made available and is easily accessible via the long tailgate with its standard motorized operation, which also enables the precise opening angle to be set via buttons on the hatch.
The dramatic, flowing lines that provide stunning camouflage for these practical elements and also permit an impressive drag coefficient of 0.28 have been sculpted using a high proportion of aluminium that ensures the rigid body shell weighs around 15 per cent less than an equivalent all-steel shell. Similarly sweeping curves also enfold passengers in the opulent cabin, which exudes quality, luxury and technological ingenuity in equal measure in the best traditions of Audi.
Two specification levels – SE and S line – and an impressive ‘core’ equipment list will be common to both. This will include xenon headlamps with LED tail lamps, powered tailgate operation, leather upholstery, electric seat adjustment and heating, cruise and parking controls, satellite navigation, the Audi Music Interface (AMI), DAB digital radio and Bluetooth phone preparation.
The ‘hub’ of the interior is the advanced Multi Media Interface (MMI) system with retractable 6.5-inch monitor, which with its large central control knob and reduced number of buttons is now even more intuitive to use when operating the standard high end audio and navigation systems and the Bluetooth phone interface.
MMI will be upgradeable at extra cost to MMI Touch with its 8-inch monitor and fingertip sensitive touch pad as seen first in the new A8. As well as ultra-intelligent 3D navigation mapping, the new MMI Touch system can store audio tracks and telephone data on its sizeable hard disk. To enter a destination or phone number, the driver need only draw the required letters or numbers with their index finger on the touch pad.
As an option, a GPRS module will be available which will be fed with news and weather information from the Web by internet service provider Google, and will make it possible for drivers to plot detailed routes on a home computer and download them to the navigation system when they start a trip. An optional UMTS module will also enable Google Earth images to be beamed to the MMI monitor in 3D for navigation purposes, and through its wireless WLAN link will make full internet connection available to passengers using their own computers.
A7 Sportback debut for new head-up display
For the first time in a production Audi, a ‘head-up’ display will be available at extra cost in the A7 Sportback. The sophisticated system will project key information, including economy and speed data and navigation routing onto the windscreen so that it appears to float at a distance of around 2.5 metres ahead of the driver.
Another key option that is new to Audi models of this size is the park assist system. Using ultrasonic sensors that detect parallel and horizontal parking spaces, the system can completely take over the steering function when parking at the touch of a button, leaving the driver responsible only for throttle and brake application as required.
The list of optional driver aids will also include a night vision assistant employing a thermal imaging camera to highlight persons in front of the car, the Audi side assist blind spot warning system, the Audi lane assist lane departure detection system and the new Audi pre-sense system first seen in the new A8. In its standard form pre-sense analyzes the information from the ESP sensors and intervenes to activate the hazard warning lights, close the side windows and sunroof and tension the seatbelts when maximum brake application or skidding is detected.
The pre-sense system can be expanded in various stages at extra cost: the full version brakes the car automatically in order to minimize the consequences of a nose-to-tail collision.
Among the more indulgent options available are comfort seats with heating, cooling and massaging functions, acoustic glazing, supple leather trimming for the centre console, a 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system with 1,300 watts of power, TV reception and various connectivity upgrades for the MMI system.

Suzuki Releases New Images of the 2011 Swift
by Aman ChaudhryNo Comments
Suzuki is pleased to announce the release of some further images of the new, third generation Swift which goes on sale in autumn. Images include action; profile and a view of the interior design. The all-new Swift is positioned as Suzuki’s latest world strategic model and makes further developments in design, impact safety, driving performance, handling, improved fuel consumption and significantly lower emissions at 116g/km which will make it one of the very cleanest petrol engine Superminis on sale.
Extensive use of higher strength steel makes the new car lighter and stiffer than before as well as offering refinement in underbody design. The latest body structure has also helped improve impact safety for pedestrians as well as occupants.
Variable gear ratio steering, increased track and larger diameter wheels with lower profile tyres allow for even better handling than the highly acclaimed outgoing Swift that first went on sale five years ago.
New Swift has grown in length (+90mm) with a 50mm increase in wheelbase and a slight increase in height of 10mm.
For the powertrain; a new 1.2-litre petrol engine incorporating Dual VVT (Variable intake and exhaust valve timing) is utilised which produces 94PS at 6,000rpm, slightly more than the outgoing 1.3-litre unit. Torque is also improved to 118Nm at 4,800rpm.
Fuel consumption on the combined cycle is now 56.5mpg for the manual transmission model, an improvement of 7.8mpg over the previous 1.3-litre unit.
A 1.3-litre diesel engine is planned for introduction in early 2011; this engine emits 109g/km (down from 119g/km) and has an impressive combined fuel consumption of 67.3mpg, an improvement on the already highly credible 62.8mpg from the outgoing Swift DDiS.

Alonso Wins the Controversial 2010 German GP
by Aman ChaudhryNo Comments
One man’s pole position could lead to another man’s victory. That seemed to be the rule of the German Formula One Grand Prix on Sunday. Sebastian Vettel who started first after the qualifying gave up his position almost as soon as the race started leaving both Ferrari drivers to make the most of it.A rather controversial 1-2 win for Ferrari saw Felipe Massa who lead the race from the start back off to let teammate Alonso pass and win have raised a few questions. Red Bull driver Vettel managed to step on the podium at third place.
The first coupld of seconds of the race saw Vettel trying hard to squeeze Alonso against the pit wall while Massa saw this as an opportunity to push past both.
While Massa and Alonso both set up fastest laps for the race, the turn of events occurred on lap 47 when race engineer Rob Smedley informed Massa that Alonso was faster than the two and moments later Alonso was seen nurturing pole position.
The two McLarens performed farely well once again as Hamilton and Button both secured fourth and fifth place respectively. The driver at some loss was Webber as he has to drop back to take care of his engine and high fuel consumption. Webber finished the race after Button as position six.
