  • We have already seen the pictures of the Bugatti Super Sport (remember the black and orange monster), which made its debut at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Now, we bring you the latest images released by the manufacture showing the Super Sport in a blue carbon fiber version. As a reminder, this is the same car that manages to touch 431 kmh (268 mph) on the Ehra-Lessian Volkswagen test track.

As we already know the Bugatti Super Sport is powered by an engine that has been tweaked to develop 1200 hp and a maximum torque of 1,106 pound feet. This unit in return uses the seven-speed twin clutch transmission and sends power to all four wheels. This mammoth also comes with enhanced aerodynamics, a re-engineered chassis and a body structure that uses carbon fiber.

“The Super Sport’s flat, elongated silhouette distinguishes itself from the standard car. Rather than scoops above the engine, the 16-cylinder engine is now fed air from two NACA ducts integrated into the roof. The front air intakes have been expanded and reshaped, with the lower one extending elegantly around the sides to the wheel arch. The revised rear end looks sportier due to the double diffuser and a centrally arranged exhaust system,” a company statement reads.

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport covers the 0 to 100-km/h distance in mere 2.5 seconds, the 0 to 200 stretch in 7.3 seconds and the 0 to 300 distance in around 15 seconds. Whoa!

On the other hand, the production version of the car, which will be available, will have an electronic limitation on top speed at 415 km/h due to tire (and life?) safety reasons.

This Bugatti Veyron Super Sport will be priced at EUR 1,464,000 and will be sold in a limited run of just 5 units in the beginning.

  • Mercedes-AMG Builds The Best Sports Engine

         by Aman Chaudhry

The AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine took away two top accolades as part of the coveted “International Engine of the Year Awards 2010″: the high-revving naturally aspirated engine developing up to 386 kW/525 hp comfortably took top spot in the “Best Performance Engine” and “Above 4 litres” categories. This is the second year running that the eight-cylinder engine from AMG has beaten off the competition.

Bearing the internal designation M 156, the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine with its displacement of 6208 cubic centimetres produces between 457 hp and 525 hp, develops up to 630 Nm of torque and features in various AMG models, including the C 63 AMG, the E 63 AMG and the SL 63 AMG. The basis for the agile power delivery is the consistent technology transfer from motorsport, which has been an inseparable part of the company philosophy at Mercedes-AMG for over four decades. The verdict of juror Jason Cammisa from Automobile Magazine (USA): “The absolute epitome of a German hot rod V8 engine!” Carl Cunanan, editor of C! Magazine (USA): For its fantastic engine sound alone it deserved first place!”

The great potential of the award-winning AMG V8 is also reflected in its character-packed, powerful evolution: the engine – dubbed the M 159 – for the SLS AMG super sports car is based on the M 156; in the gullwing the AMG high-revving naturally aspirated engine develops 571 hp and delivers maximum torque of 650 Nm. Another outstanding vehicle is the C 63 AMG with Performance Package Plus and maximum output of 487 hp. The overhauled features inside the engine are responsible for the increase in output: the forged pistons adopted from the SLS AMG together with new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft make the engine three kilograms lighter. The reduced inertia enhances the agility of the eight-cylinder unit, which offers even more exhilarating responsiveness.

  • 2011 Land Rover Range Rover

         by Aman Chaudhry

When serious SUV enthusiasts have arguments, there’s only one name that can make them all unanimously agree. The mother-of-all SUV’s – The JLR Range Rover.

JLR has just announced a series of upgrades for the 2011 model of the Range Rover.

In the diesel versions, there’s a new 4.4-litre LT-TD V8 with 308 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque which replaces the older 3.6-litre, will be mated to a new ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 0 to 60 mph distance is gobbled up in less than 7.5 seconds whereas, it only takes 5.9 seconds for the 5-litre V8 to cover the same. Even when this kind of power is offered, JLR hasn’t forgotten about fuel economy. This is the first Range Rover ever to break the efficiency barrier with a figure of 30 miles per gallon on the European cycle. The diesel also benefits from the Supercharged model’s Brembo braking system.

There are some minor facelifts and cosmetic changes, a new wheel option, an upgraded Terrain response System, an optional Exterior Design Pack and a special 40th anniversary Autobiography Black edition.

Unfortunately all these details will be available only in the European version and till now we have no news what is in store for the US market.

  • Thanks to its combination of small size and powerful 3.0-litre six cylinder twin turbocharged engine, BMW’s 135i has attracted a loyal following amongst owners and the motoring press.

Which is why Buckingham based Superchips Ltd, the market leading specialist in performance electronic tuning, is pleased to unveil a performance boosting ECU remap for the 135i.

The result of extensive investigation into the BMW’s Siemens MSD ECU parameters, Superchip’s highly experienced technicians successfully identified several performance enhancement opportunities with the original factory settings, enabling the company to refine the 135i’s ECU map to meet the needs of the BMW driving enthusiast who demands a sharper, more exciting drive.

Careful optimisation of ignition, fuelling and turbo boost settings via combination of extensive chassis dyno testing and road validation has produced a Superchips remap that elevates the performance of the 135i onto a different plane.

As measured on its in house four wheel drive chassis dyno’, the Superchips upgrade boosts the BMW 135i’s peak power from a tested standard output of 315 bhp, to a mighty 360 bhp, with a maximum power gain of 49 bhp at 5989 rpm.

The Superchips ECU remap also significantly enhances the 135i’s torque output, rising from a measured 394 Nm to an impressive 456 Nm at just 3359 rpm, with maximum gain of 70 Nm at just 3267 rpm.

Compared to the standard BMW 135i, the Superchips upgraded car produces peak torque over 1000 rpm lower down in the rev range, making it not only ultimately faster, but also significantly easier to drive.

Although not yet tested against the clock, the Superchips remapped BMW 135i is expected to better the standard car’s 5.3 second 0-60 mph sprint time, although for safety reasons the 155 mph speed limiter is left untouched.

Installation of the Superchips ECU remap entails customers visiting one of approximately 100 Superchips dealerships in the UK who will undertake the remap procedure.

Suitable for both manual and automatic transmission variants of BMW 135i produced from 2007 onwards, the Superchips ECU remap is available now both directly from Superchips and its UK dealer network, priced at £445.00 including VAT @ 17.5%.

  • DMC, a German Tuning company has recently released a tuning kit for the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640, which is called the “Quattro Veloce”. The kit is covers most of the Murcielago in carbon fiber, gives a new front fascia, a redesigned hood with new air intakes, a new front splitter, new side wings, fuel filler cap, a new rear spoiler and a new rear diffuser.

The engine of the car is covered with DMC’s special red-carbon cage that has also been upgraded increasing the power output by six percent to produce 670 PS and 660 Nm of torque.

With all this tweaking and upgrading the Murcielago LP 640 seems to have shed some weight and is now lighter and will go faster. Distance of 0 to 60 mph is covered in 3.2 seconds pushing the top speed limits to 213 mph, making it almost 8 mph faster than the stock LP 640.

The kit includes a world first diamond forged carbon fiber rims with a pale finish and the interiors come with a set of carbon fiber racing seats that offers some exquisite ostrich leather finish.

The fancy DMC kit can also be easily fitted on the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670 Super Veloce but before you get too excited, the sad part is that DMW only plans to make about 40 of these units and the first car will be delivered in July.

As they say all good things come with a price tag and so does this DMC kit. Price starting at EUR 59,900 is all inclusive of installation and shipping charges to and from DMC’s headquarters in Dusseldorf. However, if customers want to go for the exclusive white carbon fiber rims and the interior package, they will need to sheel out an extra EURO 40,000.

  • The BMW 1 series upgrade or more commonly known M1 has been in the news for quite some time now. We’ve also heard rumors that there might not be one at all. Although now it does seem like BMW is planning to come up with an upgraded version of their ever-so-successful 1 series.

Reports suggest that a 3.0-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder engine that will probably generate up to 326 horsepower and 450 Nm or torque could power the ‘M1’. The engine will be mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.

Here’s a video of the 1-series undergoing testing at the Nurburgring circuit.

  • 2012 Nissan GT-R to even faster

         by Aman Chaudhry

It is believed that Nissan is busy working on the upgraded version of the super powerful GT-R which will be the 2012 model year keeping in mind it’s rival the Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S.

Rumors say that Nissan is planning small modifications, which will include aerodynamics, suspension and brake upgrades. The more exciting stuff will come under the hood – in comes a retuned 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 with additional boost to upgrade the output to 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.

The new GT-R has already been tested in Germany some time back and is believed to have produced figures that were lower than the current GT-R’s Nürburgring lap time of 7:26.

The exterior with a new front splitter, rear diffuser and a revised wing could have had some to do with the new lap times.

Exactly how fast were lap times set by the revised GT-R is yet to be revealed. Hopefully, it will be available early next year.
