Fisker Karma ‘Get Hot’ Commercial
by Aman ChaudhryNo CommentsFisker has recently brought out this new commercial show casing the all-new ‘very hot’ Karma – the plug-in sports hybrid. The same Karma was first advertised differently but that obviously didn’t work for Fisker.
This is the new ‘Get Hot’ commercial and we are a tad bit curious to find out if this leaves an impression or not. After all the Karma comes with 2.0-litre turbocharged direct petrol engine and an electric motor that produces 403 horsepower.
Even though there’s a pretty woman, a soft alluring sound track, ice cubes melting, fast car, donuts, basically the works, it somehow doesn’t touch the cord. But that’s just what we think.
Check it out right here:

Fiat MultiAir Turbo 1.4L Wins Best New Engine of 2010 Award
by Aman ChaudhryNo CommentsThe FPT 1.4 Turbo engine, the first Fiat power unit to incorporate revolutionary MultiAir technology, has won the prestigious Engine of the Year award in the Best New Engine of the Year category. This innovative four-cylinder engine combines MultiAir, the electro-hydraulic management of the inlet valves, with a turbocharger, setting new efficiency standards.
Developed and manufactured by FPT – Fiat Powertrain Technologies – the 1.4 MultiAir Turbo engines, with power outputs ranging from 135 to 170 bhp, now equip the Alfa Romeo MiTo and Giulietta, as well as the Fiat Punto Evo and Abarth Punto Evo, and will soon be introduced to the Fiat Bravo.
The top of the range 170 bhp version, with 124 bhp/litre, has an outstanding specific power output which, combined with peak torque of 250 Nm, guarantees sporty performance, together with record-setting fuel consumption and emissions (134 g/km of CO2 in the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta).
MultiAir technology, which has already won numerous awards, is based on direct control of the intake air, cylinder by cylinder and stroke by stroke, without a throttle valve, and reduces fuel consumption and CO2emissions by up to 10%, while increasing power by 10% and improving torque by 15%. Additionally, all polluting emissions are also significantly reduced by careful monitoring of combustion. MultiAir technology is versatile, easily applicable to all petrol engines, and has the potential to be developed for diesel engines in future.
The Best New Engine of the Year award, bestowed by an international jury of 65 specialist journalists from 32 countries, was collected by Aldo Marangoni, FPT Product Engineering Vice President.
“The award is further confirmation of the Fiat Group’s acknowledged capacity for technological innovation. The Group won the prize in 2005, in the 1.0 to 1.4-litre capacity class of the International Engine of the Year, with the small but sophisticated 1.3 MultiJet, which opened a new chapter in the history of diesel engines, a field in which the Group has always been a leader, having been the first to launch innovations such as direct injection and common-rail technology on the market,” says Marangoni.
“Lots of power combined with serious reductions in emissions makes this a very good engine. Then, when you look at the fuel economy, Fiat’s MultiAir turbo powertrain becomes a great engine – it’s easy to see why it has won Best New Engine for 2010,” says Dean Slavnich, Co-Chairman of the Awards, and editor of Engine Technology International.

Hennessey Venom GT
by Aman Chaudhry2 CommentsDiMora Motorcar Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) made an announcement that it has delivered the first production Venom GT from UK to the Middle East where it will find its owner.
Whether its Bugatti Veyrons or Venom Gts, the Middle East definitely turns out to be a market for these high-end powerhouses. Guess people there really appreciate these fantastic cars and can afford them too.
The Venom GT has a twin turbocharged Chevrolet LS-series aluminum V8 producing 1,200 bhp and 1,539 Nm (1,135 lb-ft torque) mated to a 6-speed Ricardo manual transaxle (the same as found in the Ford GT).
“This is the fulfillment of a dream that I have had since I was a kid,” company founder, John Hennessey, said in a release. “But it is also just the beginning as we begin to demonstrate the performance capabilities of the Venom GT in the near future.”
Derived from the Lotus Elise model, the Venom GT received an all-new front and rear space frame and suspension and a new carbon fiber body, sporting an adjustable rear wing.
The Venom GT receives a supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8, tweaked by HPE to derive a maximum output of 725 bhp. There will also be a 1,000 bhp to go with the aforementioned 1,200 bhp twin turbo V8 engine variant. All this amount of power will be transmitted to the rear tires thanks to the Ricardo 6-speed gearbox.
HPE has also announced some two months ago that it has plans of marketing the supercar in Europe, Russia and Australia. The company will only produce 10 vehicles each year.

Subaru Impreza STI Cosworth launched
by Aman ChaudhryNo CommentsSubaru has just launched the Subaru Impreza STI Cosworth and never has the term ‘Hot-hatch’ been described so well.
Just look at this hatch. Loyal fans to Ford RS500, VW Golf R or Renault will surely be having a change of heart after checking the STI Cosworth out. Subaru STI was considered pretty hot till the already mentioned competitors stole its thunder away.
In jumped in Cosworth, did their magic and came out with this spectacular looking hatchback.
Cosworth has managed to generate an extra 99 horsepower from the STI’s efficient 2.5-liter boxer engine which now produces 395 bhp and a torque of 398 pound feet which in result makes this model hit 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, which is also 1.5 seconds faster than the standard STI and can attain a top speed of 155 mph.
Now how did that happen? Well the guys at Cosworth simply used a new exhaust system and turbocharger, replaced with a specially developed one from Garret. There’s also an addition of new steel conrods, high performance pistons to reduce the friction with the engine, a re-designed head gasket and a new oil pump and new ECU software that manages everything.
There’s one thing that Subaru Impreza cannot compromise on and that is handling. Eibach and Bilsten along with Cosworth have developed a new suspension, given the car new coil springs and reducing the height by 10mm.
New AP racing front brakes along with 13.7 inch discs and six piston calipers take care of the effective braking in the Impreza STI Cosworth. 18-inch alloys wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 3 rubbers adorn the hatch.
A new distinguished front bumper, redesigned grilles and a new rear spoiler enhance the looks of the giving it a sexy sporty look.
The car will be priced at $71,800 or 49,995 pounds. The catch is that only 75 of such units will be produced and the Cosworth Impreza will only come with right hand drive.

SUPERCHIPS UNLEASHES THE BMW 135i’S REAL DRIVING MACHINE
by Aman ChaudhryNo CommentsThanks to its combination of small size and powerful 3.0-litre six cylinder twin turbocharged engine, BMW’s 135i has attracted a loyal following amongst owners and the motoring press.
Which is why Buckingham based Superchips Ltd, the market leading specialist in performance electronic tuning, is pleased to unveil a performance boosting ECU remap for the 135i.
The result of extensive investigation into the BMW’s Siemens MSD ECU parameters, Superchip’s highly experienced technicians successfully identified several performance enhancement opportunities with the original factory settings, enabling the company to refine the 135i’s ECU map to meet the needs of the BMW driving enthusiast who demands a sharper, more exciting drive.
Careful optimisation of ignition, fuelling and turbo boost settings via combination of extensive chassis dyno testing and road validation has produced a Superchips remap that elevates the performance of the 135i onto a different plane.
As measured on its in house four wheel drive chassis dyno’, the Superchips upgrade boosts the BMW 135i’s peak power from a tested standard output of 315 bhp, to a mighty 360 bhp, with a maximum power gain of 49 bhp at 5989 rpm.
The Superchips ECU remap also significantly enhances the 135i’s torque output, rising from a measured 394 Nm to an impressive 456 Nm at just 3359 rpm, with maximum gain of 70 Nm at just 3267 rpm.
Compared to the standard BMW 135i, the Superchips upgraded car produces peak torque over 1000 rpm lower down in the rev range, making it not only ultimately faster, but also significantly easier to drive.
Although not yet tested against the clock, the Superchips remapped BMW 135i is expected to better the standard car’s 5.3 second 0-60 mph sprint time, although for safety reasons the 155 mph speed limiter is left untouched.
Installation of the Superchips ECU remap entails customers visiting one of approximately 100 Superchips dealerships in the UK who will undertake the remap procedure.
Suitable for both manual and automatic transmission variants of BMW 135i produced from 2007 onwards, the Superchips ECU remap is available now both directly from Superchips and its UK dealer network, priced at £445.00 including VAT @ 17.5%.
