  • Ferrari 599 Roadster Ready for August

         by Aman Chaudhry

Ferrari finally announced the introduction of a cabriolet version of the 599 GTB Fiorano to their fleet.

Ferrri plans to debut the open-top version of the 599 in California at the Pebble Beach concourse sometime in August. Following the footsteps of the V12 Superamerica, it is believed that expected 599 would also have a power premium that would allow it to maintain its dynamic qualities in spite of the extra weight.

Ferrari is using a different thought process while planning the name of the car. Ferrari’s boss Luca de Montezemolo mentioned, “it will have an emotional, romantic name such as Italia or Fiorano.

While name will be romantic, Ferrari does have a shocker planned up its sleeve. The Ferrari 599 will also be available in hybrid version by 2015. The car was previewed by the HY-KERS ventura laboratorio (experimental vehicle), which was introduced at this year’s Geneva Auto Show. The vehicle’s hybrid powertrain uses a compact, tri-phase electric motor, coupled with a rear-mounted dual clutch 7 seven speed transmission. The electric motor tips the scale at 40 kg and has an output of 100 hp, which allows it to compensate for the weight of the whole electric drive system.

Ferrari also plans to introduce a V6 powerplant along with the development of turbocharged V8 engines.

Despite going green Ferrari promises that nothing will affect the performance of its future vehicles.
