  • Jorge Lorenzo bagged the Le Mans MotoGp World Championship marking his second victory of the season and extended his world championship lead to nine points. Teammate Rossi secured second position while Honda rider Andrea Dovizioso finished the podium positions.

Even though Rossi had a super start after starting from pole, he couldn’t hold on to it for too long as his teammate Lorenzo managed to slip past without much difficulty only to ride with unmatched skill to maintain a four second lead to keep his position right till the end.

Last few laps saw much excitement and a constant battle between the two Honda teammates and Ducati rider Nicky Hayden. Pedrosa, who tried hard to hold on to third for a long time made some crucial mistakes to first let teammate Dovizioso go past and then letting Hayden go in for fourth only to finish fifth himself.

Didn’t turn out to be a good race for Casey Stoner as the Ducati ace rider crashed out at Turn 6, after the second lap itself making this his second non-finish of the season. Soon after that Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Ben Spies race was over because of a mechanical failure and Capirossi (Rizla Suzuki) also went down to interrupt his race.

  • THERE are lots of books about the Norton Commando; about its history, performance, lineage, and the minutiae of its specification. But none of them will tell you what to look for when buying one secondhand. That’s what this book is about – it is a straightforward, practical guide to buying a used Commando. It doesn’t list all the correct colour combinations for each year, or analyse the bike’s design philosophy, or consider its background as part of a troubled industry – there are excellent books listed at the end of this one that do all of that – but it will help you avoid buying a dud.

Point by point, it takes the reader through everything that needs looking at when buying a Commando, plus spares prices, which is the best model to buy for your needs, and a look at auctions, restorations and paperwork.

So don’t buy a Commando without buying this book first!

Having this book in your pocket is just like having a real marque expert by your side. Benefit from Peter Henshaw’s years of experience; learn how to spot a bad Norton Commando quickly, and how to assess a promising one like a professional.

These bikes are the last of the ‘classic’ Nortons, and remain collector’s items, and many have been saved, restored and returned to the road in superb condition. This book, which is available now from bookshops or www.velocebooks.com , will show you how to get the right bike at the right price.

    Available now.

    UK £9.99, USA $19.95

  • Motocorse is a company that believes in improving perfection and guess what, they just did that.

Motocorse is an Italian company that specializes in production of special motorcycle parts for sportbikes and their latest creation is The Ducati Monster 1100 Titanium.

While Motocorse made sure that this Ducati Monster got some serious technical upgrades, they did not forget about the style quotient either. The biggest factor here is the amount of weight that has been shed to make the Monster lighter to only go faster. This unique model has a black and red finish, titanium elements and carbon fiber parts that have reduced the weight by 156 kg.

Now when these guys talk about changing parts in a motorcycle, they are very serious about their job.

Not a just a handful of replacements have taken place, but more than 60 components have been changed the Titanium Ducati from the standard version.

There’s a titanium exhaust called the Motocorse Evoluzione 54 mm and the brake discs are made up of composite ceramic Sicom and measure 320×6mm, which are paired with Brembo racing calipers and titanium pistons on Motocorse 43 mm CNC radial mounts.

Modifications with the engine have resulted in performance figures to go up from 95 horsepower and 103 Nm torque to 102.6 hp and 113 Nm of torque. The Marchesini forged aluminum wheels, the slipper clutch, the titanium screws and Motocorse billet adjustable foot rests have also played a part in weight reduction of the Titanium Ducati 1100.

After all of this Motocorse gives you a choice of two levels of customization. The first kit is called One Full Upgrade Kit that offers everything upto 80 components and then there’s the second option Two Standard Upgrade Kit that includes only seven special parts.

  • The Beijing International Auto Show is going full swing, and Honda has unveiled its new concept sedan planned for the Chinese market there. Li Nian Everus is the name of this concept and it is the by-product of Honda and its Chinese partner Guangqi Honda Automobile.

Except the fact that the Everus is a concept designed for the Chinese market, not much is still known about the car. However, the concept has an uncanny resemblance with the City while the traditional front and rear end reminds us of the Acura.

Honda stated that the mass-production of the model would be launched at GuangzhouMotor Show scheduled at the end of this year.

  • Ducati introduces Monster 796

         by Aman Chaudhry

Ducati had introduced another Monster to its family. Monster 796 is the latest middleweight addition to Ducati and it will be slotted between the bulky 1100 and the entry level 696 making it both user friendly and sporty. The new Monster 796 will use the same engine as the Hypermotard 796 delivering close to 87hp though this engine will have more torque.

The Monster 796 is fitted with the micro-bikini fairing and single seat cover as standard and features a new seat designed with a comfort-enhancing shape, further accentuated with stylish red stitching. Additional new features also include a rear sub-frame constructed ready to accept new accessory grab-handles designed to provide a confidence-inspiring grip for the passenger, while blending into the natural line of the tail-end.

There have been few changes in the riding position with the riding seat ride has been re-positioned and the handlebars have been raised. Ducati claims that these changes along with a re-designed seat shape are supposed to increse comfort and improve posture.

Ducati has been disappointed with the sales of the Monster 1100 so it is assumed that the pricing for the Monster 796 will be quite attractive.

Chances are that new Monster 796 might be priced the same as the 796 Hypermotard.
